Welcome to SILC, and our third post.
So what’s been happening over the last few weeks . . .
SILC Membership Update
SILC membership continues to grow, and to date we’ve had 20 services register to be either Associate or Beneficent Members. In response to several enquiries from services using CORE independent of the CORE IMS software we have created a new SILC membership category called ‘Independent’, which has all the benefits associated with Associate membership. Before moving on to update you on where we are with collecting members’ CORE data I’d like to warmly and enthusiastically welcome the following services to SILC . . .
SILC Associate Members
- Cardiff Mind, Cardiff
SILC Beneficent Members
- The Leicester Counselling Centre, Leicestershire
- Gay Men’s Health, Edinburgh
- Ealing Abbey Counselling Service, London
- Midlothian Sure Start, Edinburgh
- The Maya Centre, London
- My Sisters Place, Yorkshire
- Colin Community Counselling, Belfast
SILC Independent Members
- PF Counselling Services, Edinburgh
You can learn more about these services, and the work they do by going to the SILC Members’ Directory.
CORE Data Donations
The collection of CORE data has gone well with 70% of SILC Beneficent members having already donated their data. We plan to offer a further cut-off date, for you to register your interest in donating your service’s CORE PC data, later this year so that we can accommodate members that are currently on leave, and new members. As mentioned in our last blog, we believe that donations of CORE data from voluntary sector services will quickly create an invaluable resource to support service development and increase funding, and we’re not able to meaningfully progress this task without your help. Again just to remind you, services donating their data will receive a FREE Independent Data Report detailing their service’s case mix and clinical outcomes which can be used to support funding applications to commissioning boards. For a preview of what you can expect from your free independent data report log in to Members’ Resources.
SILC Member Webinars
In recognition of SILC members being on holiday during September the following webinars have been rescheduled to take place in October, and we really hope that you will be able to attend at least one of them.
Monday 12th October @ 11am – CORE Outcomes: The Total Story
Monday 26th October @ 11am – Improving Outcomes
Attendance is limited to a maximum of 25 attendees, and places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Please email me should you wish to reserve a place on one or both of the above webinars. The webinars will be delivered via ‘Go to Meeting’, and should you wish to ‘test’ Go to Meeting prior to the scheduled webinars dates then I would be very happy to arrange this for you.
We’re very pleased to be going to Birmingham this week to meet with our SILC colleague, Penny Gray, and to meet with two potential SILC Coaches with specialist knowledge in a number of areas key to voluntary sector counselling and psychotherapy services. We hope to be able to say more about this exciting new development in our next blog.
Over the next month…
We will be busy preparing members Independent Data Reports, and preparing for the Collaborative Member selection process plus writing content for the learning collaborative programme . . . so we’ll be busy, busy, busy.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and to welcoming new members to SILC.
Bye for now . . .
